Which events in January will be the most exciting? There will be so many concerts, shows and events happening in January, that this will be a tough choice! But make sure to visit at least one or two of these events when you stay in Cape Town and feel the vibrant atmosphere of the Mother City this summer.

Here are our recommendations for some of the best events in Cape Town. Enjoy your time in Cape Town and have a fabulous start into the new year!

Start with celebrating the new year in 2020 in true Cape Town style with visiting the Mother City’s vibrant Minstrel Carnival. Colours abound and cheerfulness galore when the minstrel bands march through Cape Town’s city centre.

The Cape minstrel bands dressed in bright fancy costumes will march through the Bo-Kaap and Cape Town’s city centre every second day of January and they are cheered by their many fans, locals as well as tourists who come to enjoy the festivities along Adderley Street. Please be aware of the many street closures. More info here.

And there are many other great Cape Town events in January you can experience while visiting or living in Cape Town. Here we have pre-selected some event highlights for the month of January. And be assured: whatever the weather, Cape Town rocks!
